Similar to the Imperial German Army uniform dunkelblau M1842/M1856, dark blue tunic with one chest standing in a neck and no pockets. It is used with straight pants and put on sale a kepi (red for Imperial Guard) in which carried a bronze five-star point. After the Franco-Prussian War, the kepi was replaced by a flat cap covered the neck of the robe and became larger. Pockets were added to the robes of the officers at the end of issue.
Infantry uniforms had red lining on his tunic collars, leashes Shoulder and striped pants. Line Infantry had yellow bands and the piping on the cap, while the Imperial Guard infantry were distinguished by red. Seams of the trousers for both arms of the infantry had wide red stripes. Artillery had yellow lining in their dark blue uniforms. The color of the branch engineers was dark brown, green for physicians and blue light to transport units.
A dark blue cap (red for Guard units Imperial) was used for the gala. Common law and played an active service was nevertheless shaped cap with a narrow crown, similar to the French kepi of the period.
A lightweight white cotton version was used for the rights of fatigue and tropical wear. In white pants hot and top covers used with the dark blue robes.
Senior officials could take longer, double chest version of the tunic dress. Other features included elaborate gold braid on the cuffs according to rank, waist sashes, gold shoulder cords and feathers in the dress kepi.
Cavalry regiments wore a Attila short jacket with transverse hussar style braiding in yellow (red for Imperial Guard cavalry). Red pants. The color of the cavalry arm was green and in 1905 this color appeared on both collars and striped trousers.
The dark blue uniform adopted under the 1886 Regulation was maintained with only small changes until 1905. As such, it was used during the first months of the Russo-Japanese War. A summer uniform of khaki has been introduced just before the outbreak of war and this became the general subject of front-line infantry during June to August 1904. Cavalry and artillery, was subsequently issued with khaki uniforms but some second line units continued to wear dark blue until the end of the war in September 1905. During the winter of 1904-05 the blue uniforms were the heaviest used again, but often in the summer drilling baggy khaki for camouflage.
After the Russo-Japanese War the Japanese Army adopted khaki for all occasions - the first senior Army dress uniform rule of colors. Only the cavalry squadrons of the Imperial Guard and officers of all branches were allowed to keep their uniform colors to certain ceremonies and social events until 1939.
The M98 (1938) was a modification more M90 uniform. The only chest tunic had a stand and fall collar, five buttons running down the front and two or more generally, four pockets interior scalloped flaps (depending) the manufacturer. Long pants or shorts were used as standard along with leggings and tapes. All except the soldiers horse (wearing pants and leather boots) in uniform with horsehide, pigskin or ankle leather boots. The boots had a hard leather studded only with metal heel J-bay or a rubber sole with rubber studs. When off duty, soldiers could carry TABIS. A neck or cotton wool white, gray or below the light green shirt wore beneath his tunic. This had one or two patch pockets with buttoned flaps, most had only a single chest pocket left. A khaki cotton blouse with drop foot and neck and two breast pockets can be used in hot climates, with or without the tunic. The flat cap was replaced by a cloth cap with a short field of leather or (more usually) cloth peak.
The agents are not usually issued uniforms they had to acquire their own, so there was a great variety of detail, color and texture of their uniforms, uniform color ranging from brown to dark green. Necklaces were higher and more rigid and materials were of higher quality. Senior officials could acquire and use a version of double-breasted blue uniforms and M90. All ranks wore a version of chest unique to the M98. Bureau could use straight pants with their uniforms stand out M98 as a uniform and later could wear open-necked tunic Green helmets over a white or gray.

Is officially called (PAC tetsubo steel), but was called (tetsukabuto Steel Helmet) by troops. It was made in the shape of a dome with a short protruding edge all the way around it (the parachute version had only a short wing on the front). This helmet was made of a thin lower chromium-molybdenum steel with many showing be very fragile, easily pierced by shrapnel and / or firearms. A star (or anchor for the IJN) was a soldier in the forehead and the helmet and star were painted khaki color of mustard. Sometimes in winter white. A tan, khaki or olive-green two-layer reinforced with flax fiber was available to cover with a yellow star stitched on the front. The helmet was secured to the head by an elaborate set of straps of the descendants of Kabuto samurai helmet. It can also be used on a reversed field cap. Camouflage nets were widely used on the hull, especially in Southern campaign theater and Pacific Islanders.
