Wwii Samurai

Were WWII Japanese pilots considered the same status as Samurai?
No, you had to be born from that class to be considered that class. That mentality still live on even today in Japanese society.
For example in Japan you always hear of couples having divorces because one finds out that the other is from the "Burakumin" caste( equivalent of untouchable in India)

Sometimes the events in the history of the force behind the creation of new ideas to replace what becomes obsolete. The weapons, strategy and tactics have always been marked by change in the battlefields of history to deal with new threats.
While obsolete weapons end up in a museum, and outdated tactics are preserved in the text, once a martial art was considered no longer useful on the battlefield that still survives as a sport or hobby, thanks to groups of enthusiasts, are maintained to preserve the style of their culture.
The list of martial arts currently being taught is amazing, but this list is shortened drastically when looking for those who still could make the grade in a modern combat situation. And while all martial arts are fun to watch and learn, it is important that the public understands that a style of martial arts should only be called "self defense" when you have a modern application. (Lot good fat your Kung Fu Crane will face a semi-automatic .40-caliber Glock!)
After years of constant war Japanese samurai had no time to develop a sport or style of hand to the infighting that seemed impressive. His only concern was to survive when they were unarmed.
These martial arts schools fully executed at the moment I knew the attacks, chokes, takedowns and kicks are taught only as a way of re-armed himself in a battleground if you were without horses and without guns.
In Japan began updating its medieval nation in 1868, and having a more prominent on the world stage, the battlefield elements tested for their unarmed combat systems have been updated and preserved even through the foreign military influence (Japan, Germany would train their army and train its British navy).
In the 20th Century, William E. Fairbairn, a British police officer would make the long trip to train in Judo and Jujutsu at the Kodokan Institute in Tokyo.
When WWII broke out Fairbairn and colleagues from the Police, Eric Anthony Sykes (both served with the Shanghai Municipal Police), he returned to England to teach what they knew about unarmed combat in preparation for a Nazi invasion.
When newly promoted colonels Fairbairn and Sykes, took command of the British HOMEGUARD (The last line of defense) does not was unable to do any fighting. Full of older men who were unable to perform military service standard, which were armed only with hand tools and rusty guns because the military had nothing to lose after leaving much of its equipment at Dunkirk.
This did not stop Fairbairn, who was he taught the HOMEGUARD what he learned in Japan. Soon every local unit could learn how to disarm an attacker, get a guard with his own hands, and fighting with common weapons such as axes and pitchforks. If England was to be invaded, the population would not go quietly.
Just have concluded that the allocation is Fairbairn and Sykes sent to train Allied troops in a secret camp created by the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Many Americans were skeptical about what the chief officer of police could teach them about the fight. (After all, the British were losing the war.) But Fairbairn showed the effectiveness of their training on the first day of training as he threw a pretty big effort, a young American officer in the crowd of officials wonder.
Under the tutelage Fairbairn, these men became the first elite U.S. Special Forces unit and handled assignments including everything from guerrilla warfare, sabotage enemy equipment, intelligence gathering, and training of local resistance. Special units around the world took the war and its proven martial arts training in combat to Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan even (ironic, huh?).
In 1000 field reports highlights the successful implementation This system of unarmed combat, which began in Japan, was perfected in Europe, and tested during the Second World War is the only "martial art" with legitimate, documented and proven evidence of success in combat conditions.
Because of this lineage and history proved, when the "passing of the torch" of this knowledge fell upon our shoulders, we knew we had to do something special for absolute self-defense to keep these "truths" in the forefront of garbage and that the modern martial arts world has become.
While modern elements were added education to improve the learning process, techniques and methodology of the Second World War and our ancestors Samurai remain unchanged and as brutally effective as it ever was.
Many martial arts are useless in real world situations. Sports can be fun and good for fitness, but are not effective in real-time combat. To find a good combat gear martial have to start with the samurai. They practiced jujutsu and designed the system to combat the real world only in the mind. Refined by Europeans and tested in combat during Jujutsu World War II has continued to adapt to the battlefield constantly changing.
